Healthy Living

This may be hard to believe, but it's been so long since I've blogged that I forgot I even had a blog site. Almost two years have passed already and I've learned so much along the way as it relates to people, God, and what I'm called to do! I'm really excited about some of the ideas that God has given me and I already know it will be so fascinating to see how everything will come together in the end.

I could go on and on about where I am in life right now, but I really wanted to dedicate this blog to healthy living and healthy eating. Some people don't realize it, but healthy living and eating is biblical! "19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. We are called to honor our bodies physically and spiritually and that includes healthy eating and healthy living!

Many of you may want to stop reading here, because you are tired of looking at the skinny models on TV telling you how easy it is to get fit or you are tired of feeling guilty about where you are in your physical health journey. You are the ones I am writing this blog for; Your health journey doesn't always have to start with a strenuous workout or a diet that consists of lettuce and water. There are several ways to make this journey a fun, educating, eye-opening experience that will become somewhat contagious.

As many of you may know... I'm not the skinniest, most athletic, or most healthy girl on the block, but I have learned a few tips along the way that have made me feel better about my physical fitness and healthy lifestyle! It starts internally...You have to really determine that something needs to change and that you are committed to treating your body right! Its so important to acknowledge the fact that developing a healthy lifestyle is a process. By adjusting just a few minor things, you will be well on your way!

Please stay tuned as I share a few exercise and/or healthy eating tips each week! Feel free to give feedback! I'm really excited about sharing this portion of my life with you! Stay tuned!

Let's do it....TOGETHER!!!

Excitement!

I'm really really excited about opening my first blog! I hope that it gives me more of an opportunity to share who I am with others, especially those of you that I may not know very well. For those of you that are close to me, I will be able to give you a more in depth view of the things that are going on in my life physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I'll start now with a short update/overview of my life right now, and then every entry that follows will just build upon it.

Ever since May 10th (my graduation day), my life has really been moving at the speed of lightning. Shortly after graduation, I learned of a potential opportunity to go to South Africa. Although somewhat nervous at first, I jumped at the opportunity to leave the country. Fortunately, I was accepted into the program and had the opportunity to go to Johannesburg, South Africa for 3 whole weeks to work with high school girls! Girls from both America and South Africa! t's crazxy, because sometimes when you are in a position of leadership you expect to b e the one that is dong most of the teaching, but I learned soo soo much from the girls.. More than I think I taught them. I know that God really had me there for a reason, because I really learned a lot about life, myself, and people in general. I met several amazing girls and developed some meaningful relationships that I will continue to develop in the days ahead. It was a great experience, one that I really wouldn't trade. Upon returning, I traveled to Virginia, Boston, Florida, and finally landed in Pittsburgh, where I would have my first day of work at PNC Bank. I did not know it would come so fast, but am glad that it's finally here. I know that this is a huge stepping stone in the grand scheme of things that God has in store for me. I stayed in Pittsburgh for 2 weeks for orientation.. and am now in Philly for six more weeks for training. Although the training is intense, I'm learning a lot and it is comforting to know that there are people here in Philly that I can call upon if I just want to get away. I'm really excited, but must admit, am a little nervous about this next season that I'm entering, but I know that God is in control! That's the very very very brief update... Boston, New Orleans, South Africa, Virginia, Maryland (of Course), Pittsburgh, Florida, and now Philly! There has been a lot going on, but that's all for now, because I really need to be studying for my class tommorow RIGHT now, so that I can be in bed before midnight! Until next time... remember the importance of humility!
